Genre and NCIS

Genre

Action

Narrative
The story line is clearly shown to be the worlds greatest super heroes willing to go to any lengths to rescue humanity. This is a dramatic narrative that fits the action genre well.

Character
The characters are typical of a Hollywood action - the heroes: strong, brave and willing to do anything to rescue humanity . The villain is a robot who is very terrifying .

Iconography
There is plenty of iconography typical of the action genre: gunshots, violence, technology, running and explosions. All of these are typical of the action or fantasy genres - in connection with the narrative, we can confidently say this is a action.

Setting
The setting is in somewhere like New York or Manhattan.

Genre
Comedy

Narrative
The story line is about minions going on an adventure to find a new evil master.

Character
The characters are the Minions and some of the evil masters they look for but they main ones are the Minions.

Iconography
The iconography is that Minions struggle to find a new master so they give up and only 3 minions go to find the new master they have  been seeking for after the rest give up.

Setting
Although the trailer was three minutes long, there was a huge hint that the movie was set in New York because of the statue of Liberty.

Genre
Action

Narrative
This is about a young boy who learns that he has extraordinary powers and is not of this Earth. As a young man, he journeys to discover where he came from and what he was sent here to do. But the hero in him must emerge if he is to save the world from annihilation and become the symbol of hope for all mankind.

The characters are:  Clark Kent (The Man Of Steel), Lois Lane and General Zod but the main character is Clark Kent and General Zod.
 Iconography
There are plenty of gun fires, explosions an physical fighting in the movie trailer.  All of these are typical of the action or Sci-Fi genres.

Setting
Although the trailer is only three minutes long, the location is in another world which looks more scientific and also its is set in some parts of the USA.

Minority Report shot-by-shot analysis

This is a medium close up shot (MCU) where there are a couple of officers who look like they have found culprit and the culprit is trying to run away. I assume that the person they are trying to catch is powerful as there are several cops to catch one culprit.

This a wide shot (WS). There is  very cold and rusted car which looks like it was crashed. Also there is a human which looks like he was escaping some cops. From the figure of the humans body it looks like the he is trapped. We can see what seems to be some sort of garage where there are old nd rusty cars stored.

This is a close up (CU). We notice that he is standing to the side as if looking at someone walk away from him because they were in a fight. This screenshot suggests that he is about to say something or he about to take a deep breath as he was in a fight.

Media Analysis

Language: This is an advert by Nike as you can see the logo of that brand. This is a type of shoe which is advertised by Nike. The background image is of Neymar Jr, who is a professional football player, wearing the new hypervenoms football shoe breed. The genre of the advert are football players and lovers. The phrase "A new breed of attack" shows that Nike have released other football shoes.

Institution: This product is produced by the brand "Nike" and most footballer wear the shoes. They also look epic on the Nike TV commercials. The shoes competitors could be the predators produced by the brand "Adidas" which are also very good but not most footballers wear them. Footballers prefer to wear the hypervenoms over the predators.

Audience: The target audience are people who watch football a lot and who are willing to but the shoes. It would be 75% boys and 25% girls because girls don't watch football or play football as much as men do and they wouldn't be interested in buying the shoe. The age range would be most likely concentrated in the 11-25 age bracket. Due to Nike being a expensive brand, the advert will be aimed at largely middle-class and wealthy people.

Representation: The representation of this advert is that there is no woman in the picture as there are loads of female football players. More people watch male football as they think the males are better in football then the females. Also more males wear the footwear then females as more were sold to males then females.

London news story: We chose this story because it shows how violent young people are and how stupid they act.
Sports news story: We chose this story because
We chose this story because the whole globe is linked by the World Cup, also the World Cup has dominated the media world.

4) How did you make sure the script was the right length? We used a stop watch from a phone to see if it was the right length.

5) How did you make sure each story was clear and easy to understand? I just spoke in clear and in a load voice.

7) What was your specific role in the group? I was the director.

8) Rate your group’s ability to work collaboratively out of 5 (1=poor, 5=excellent)I would say 4.

9) How could your group have worked more effectively as a team? I think we should have only talked about the work because we didn't have enough time to finish our tasks.

10) Finally, what would you have done differently if you were given the opportunity to do this again? I would log in a computer and look for news with my group rather then me having to share a computer as having one computer each is more efficient then sharing.
